Non-Tourist Student Category
Individuals coming to study in Bhutan may apply for a student visa, and those admitted as students are granted permission to stay for an approved period based on the duration of their academic course.
Casual visitors are Indian nationals from bordering towns and districts who enter the bordering towns of Bhutan for leisure, shopping, dining, meeting friends or other non-employment purposes, using a voter ID card or Indian passport, and must exit within 24 hours.

Pilgrims to Gomkora (who must remain within Trashi Yangtse) and Hindu pilgrims to the Jayanti Mahakal Temple near Phuentsholing are Indian nationals traveling with a voter ID card or Indian passport.
